September 7-8: EU-Enlargement - Gender Equality Participation Conference |
A conference called Equal Chances in Europe: EU-Enlargement - Gender Equality Participation And The New EU Policies For The Period 2007 - 2013: Opportunities To Strengthen Civil Society And Gender Equality will be held in Bonn, Germany, by WOMNET, KARAT Coalition and WIDE.
In 2007, the European Union will implement a new generation of financial instruments for the period from 2007 to 2013. The new programmes and mechanisms will have substantive impact on the economic and social chances for development in the enlarged European Union. At the European Conference, Eastern and Western NGOs, scientists, experts and politicians will analyze new challenges, chances and risks to strengthen civil society participation, to endorse gender justice and to reduce any kind of discrimination.
The conference will focus on the EU-Enlargement and civil society activities and will in particular address the fields of Social Security, Informal Sector and Poverty, Women’s rights and fragile states, migration and trafficking, civil society and democracy.
The conference will be held in English and German. The registration starts on July 24th , 2006. The conference is open to all organizations and individuals interested in this topic.
