Shortage of information among the Bulgarian public on EU accession |
There is shortage of information among the Bulgarian public on concrete issues in the process of European integration, a survey conducted by Alpha Research within the framework of the "Because We Are Living in Bulgaria" information campaign.
As part of a campaign, held under the patronage of European Affairs Minister Meglena Kouneva, shoppers at the Central Hali shopping centre were handed out leaflets with their rights as consumers, excerpts from European laws regulating the quality of foods, traffic rules and identity documents and important addresses of European institutions. At the beginning of the campaign such leaflets were handed out in public transport.
The survey conducted by Alpha Research found that 94 per cent of those who read the leaflets handed out at the Central Hali shopping centre, assessed them as useful. Seventy per cent said that after reading the leaflet they would give it to neighbours and friends.
Sixty-three per cent of the respondents said they needed more information and 37 said they were well informed.
The findings of the Alpha Research survey were sent to the office of European Integration Minister Meglena Kouneva.
