Organizer

Alumnus UNESCO Club is a youth nongovernmental organization established in March 2000 by a group of political science students, and it is a member of the Romanian Federation of UNESCO Clubs, Centers and Associations. During the 25th and the 29thth of August 2003 we will organize The Second Balkan Seminar on the thematic of "Deconstruction of Stereotypes in the Balkans", in Brasov, Romania.

This Seminar is a follow up after several meetings of this kind: the Turkish –Hellenic Seminars organized in Athens in 1999, 2000 and 2001 and The First Balkan Seminar in the spring of 2002, also in Athens, organized by the Greek association SAFIA (Student Association for International Affairs). This Seminar was organized at a very high level, under the supervision of four university professors from the University of Athens. The organizers also included in the program a visit to the President of Greece. SAFIA will be partner of Alumnus in realizing this Second Balkan Seminar.

The main purpose of this Seminar is to encourage the dialogue between the Balkan youth and also to find an organization that will be able to carry on with this project.

There will be a total of 25 persons who will attend this Seminar from Albania, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Greece, Macedonia, Serbia and Montenegro, Slovenia, Turkey and special guests from Lithuania. Except our special guests and representatives from our partner associations, we decided to make this event available only to individuals coming from different youth NGO’s from the Balkans. This decision was made to ensure the continuity of these events; we would be more than glad to hear about a Third Balkan Seminar. In general, there will be only one person to represent one organization, we will kindly ask them to send us a paper regarding the topic of the seminar. Our organization will take charge of the accommodation of the participants, as well as the meals, excursions and all the other expenses of the seminar, except those of the transport to Brasov and back.

With best regards,

the organizing team:
