Dream Job as IT Expert:

Professional support of girls and women entering the ICT job world in ICT-education, vocational consultancy and human resource management - International trends, experiences and best practices 6 -7th June 2005 Salzburg, Austria

Objectives

ICT Technology is known as a key element of societal and economic innovation. The ICT market offers good job opportunities but the quota of women in this sector is still below average and drop out rates are very high.

This conference deals with the international challenge of how to facilitate the access and the entry of women into the ICT labour market. It will introduce strategies and practical solutions for supporting female students seeking an ICT career. The morning highly experienced speakers in this field will provide an overview of international developments. The practical sessions in the afternoon deal with the needs of the different target groups. The PRO::ICT team will present the results of the EU-project, especially innovative gender-sensitive training materials and provides advice how to introduce them into practice.

Target group

The conference is addressed to those who coach female students and young women in various periods of life and who may influence their career plans. Those people are called “Change Agents” and are for example parents, teachers, youth trainers, university staff, vocational counsellors, HR managers and members of women networks.
