Wednesday 20 April 2005

Human European Consultancy is carrying out in partnership with the Migration Policy Group for the European Commission a project on "mapping capacity of civil society dealing with anti-discrimination" (call for proposals: VT/2004/45).

The project aims at developing the capacity of civil society dealing with anti-discrimination in the new member states and Bulgaria, Romania and Turkey. Two day national seminars, targeting local representatives from NGOs, will be organised in each of the 13 countries during the month of June 2005.

The focus of the seminars will be on the role of NGOs in combating discrimination on the grounds of racial or ethnic origin, age, disability, religion or belief and sexual orientation.

The programme, which has been developed by an international team, deals with the concepts of discrimination as set out in the EU Directives 2000/43 and 2000/78, awareness raising, dialogue with the government, support to victims and litigation in the context of the national situation of government legislation and policies.

Information and registration forms for each of the countries is available from http://europa.eu.int/comm/employment_social/fundamental_rights/civil/map_en.htm
